Connor Palace Theater

Connor Palace Theater is part of the Playhouse Square complex.
Recently renamed in 2014, the Connor Palace is one of the four principal PlayhouseSquare theaters. The renaming of the theater followed a donation by the Connor family of Cleveland, of nine millions dollars to the Playhouse Square capital campaign. Originally named the Palace Theatre, the venue opened in 1922 as the flagship of B.F. Keith’s vaudeville chain. In 1978 the theater joined the National Register of Historic Places, along with the other Playhouse Square theaters.

The State Theatre is the first and largest of the PlayhouseSquare theaters to be built. It was originally opened as a movie and vaudeville house, in an Italian Renaissance style. The theater was restored and reopened in 1984 with an added $7 million stagehouse. It then became the home of the Cleveland Ballet and Cleveland Opera, with a seating capacity of 3200.
