I knew I loved their music, but seeing Khruangbin perform--powered by the mighty sound system at Road Runner, the light show and disco balls--yowza. Run don't walk to catch this breakthrough, highly original group, who have been shaped by numerous musical forces. Mark Speer is truly one of the most talented guitarists on planet earth. Each member of the group is super-talented: together, they have tremendous stage presence. I can't recommend them enough. If the future of music is Khruangbin, bring it on.

Fantastic show!! I need to get the set list. This was a great show with plenty of great peaks and grooves, great transitions, timing and wonderful interludes between. One of the standouts was when the sound system cut and the band continued to play, hearing themselves only and the crowd clapped throughout and then BAM!!, sound came back and Khruangbin was just jamming out the whole time! Just OUTSTANDING jams, and sweet funky grooves that got me dancing through out the evening! I am a big fan now and looking at the tour for more opportunities to see them live! Highly recommended. Unfortunately I won’t be able to see them at Shaky knees in Atlanta w MMJ! The Sunday line up at Swetwater has me booked already, damn it!!! Need more of this airplane band, Khruangbin!!

First, we love their music. We are locals (which there were few in attendance) and we like the surf feel of their music. It's a mellow music, so it was a weird ambience. This is not a rock concert and most were just wasted and acting like it was majorly cranking, which it wasn't most of the time. It was pretty cookie cutter, they didn't deviate from the recorded sound. Not very naked. Lighting was not focused on showcasing the great musical talent. Just a nouveau hippy feel interrupting a talented upcoming band. The venue was hindered by Hawaii's weird laws that interrupt a fun concert. The show started super late so everyone was just standing in line after line to refill drinks. That was stupid. So when the concert started, there was no cocktails available. they had closed at the early legal time. Stupid and not well planned. Oh well, we will continue to listen to them beachside after surf sesh. It's a better ambience. Mahalo nui Khruangbin.

Giving this the benefit of two stars because the music was outstanding (although no improvisation - it was like a record listening party in that respect). Everything else was off. Too many tickets sold, and with the balcony closed, it was wall-to-wall, most folks were wasted, tons of getting pushed around. No clear path for people to move around, so if you needed to use the bathroom or get a drink, you had to fight your way out of the 'ballroom' and likely were not getting back to your spot. Drunks falling down the stairs when coming from the VIP balcony, two people in the crowd PASSED OUT, and security took forever to help out. If the band is going to do shows like this (smaller venues), they need to ensure they are not oversold, as was this show. They went for intimacy, but the vibe in the crowd was anything but intimate. Bowery Ballroom has the lion's share of the blame, but the band should be more attuned to what's going on at their shows. Great music, terrible experience.
